Mother-Daughter Duo Brings Passion to Brides First Forever
Sunshine Coast locals Alyssa and Gianna recently embarked on a heartfelt venture into the bridal industry, purchasing Brides First Forever, a boutique dedicated to helping brides find their perfect wedding dress. Their journey to becoming business owners began with Alyssa’s own wedding dress search for her June 2024 wedding, a process that highlighted the joys and challenges faced by brides-to-be.
“When I got engaged, I loved every moment of wedding planning,” Alyssa shared. “But finding the right dress as a curvier bride was a bit of a journey.”
Alyssa experienced the highs of traditional wedding shopping with a day trip to Brisbane, filled with excitement, friends, and family. Yet, the experience left her feeling overwhelmed and uncertain. After purchasing a dress during a limited sample sale on the Sunshine Coast, Alyssa later realised it wasn’t her dream gown.
“It was a great dress, but it wasn’t the dress. I bought it because it was the best option out of the three I was allowed to try on,” she recalled.
A pivotal moment came when an empathetic boutique owner in Brisbane scheduled an emergency appointment for Alyssa, providing a calm, supportive environment that helped her find a dress that felt right.
“She was so lovely, non-judgmental, and truly understood what I was going through. That experience really stuck with me.”
On the drive home, both Alyssa and her mother, Gianna, couldn’t stop thinking about how fulfilling it would be to create similar positive experiences for other brides. The seed of an idea was planted.
Just days later, fate seemed to intervene. An Instagram ad appeared for Brides First Forever, a boutique for sale in their local area. Intrigued, Gianna sent the ad to Alyssa, expecting it to be a passing conversation. Instead, it turned into a life-changing decision.
“We met with Simon and Debbie, the previous owners, and fell in love with their philosophy of inclusivity and offering something unique for every bride. They believed in helping brides who struggled to find their dream dresses elsewhere,” Alyssa said. “We were inspired by their passion and knew we wanted to continue their legacy.”
Brides First Forever now focuses on providing a relaxed, judgment-free environment, offering customisable dresses, unique styles, and a private, low-pressure shopping experience. The boutique caters to brides of all sizes, ensuring that everyone feels comfortable and celebrated.
“For us, this isn’t just a business; it’s a way to pay it forward to the community,” Alyssa explained. “We saw gaps in the industry during my dress journey and wanted to create a space where every bride feels supported and special.”
For Gianna, the boutique has also been a way to stay active and fulfilled while recovering from an injury.
“It’s been a wonderful opportunity for us to work together and support brides in creating one of the happiest days of their lives,” she said.
With their shared passion and vision, Alyssa and Gianna are continuing the Brides First Forever tradition of making every bride’s journey memorable, joyful, and uniquely theirs.
